🌿 Discovering Madhabkundo — The Roar of Nature

Madhabkundo Waterfall — the largest waterfall in Bangladesh. Hidden in the heart of Moulvibazar, Sylhet, this natural wonder combines adventure, serenity, and breathtaking beauty. In this blog, I share my experience exploring its trails, capturing drone shots, and reconnecting with nature’s raw power.

There are places that don’t just impress your eyes — they speak to your soul. For me, Madhabkundo Waterfall was one of them.

Nestled in the lush hills of Moulvibazar, Sylhet, Madhabkundo is known as Bangladesh’s largest waterfall — and you truly feel its power long before you see it. The rhythmic roar of water crashing down through the forest creates a kind of music that words can hardly capture.

Background & About the Place

Madhabkundo Waterfall is located in Moulvibazar District, within the Barlekha Upazila. It’s the highest waterfall in Bangladesh, with water dropping from a height of around 200 feet.

The name “Madhabkundo” comes from a local legend — it’s said that a monk named Madhab once meditated here, giving the area both its spiritual and natural appeal. The surrounding Patharia hills and lush green forests make it a favourite for trekkers, nature lovers, and photographers alike.

This area is part of a larger eco-tourism zone that includes tea gardens, tribal villages, and scenic hiking trails.

My Experience

As I walked along the narrow trail surrounded by ancient rocks and whispering trees, the air grew cooler and fresher with every step. When the waterfall finally came into view, it felt like stepping into a painting — a curtain of white mist against a backdrop of emerald green. I couldn’t help but pause, breathe deeply, and just take it all in.

What makes Madhabkundo special isn’t only its beauty, but its sense of peace. Families picnic under the shade, children play in the shallow streams, and travellers like me stand quietly — humbled by nature’s perfection.
